Sports Face Mask

Protective face mask - side profile

Your face is your fortune. Protect it.

If you want to get back into the game quickly,a protective face mask made precisely to an accurate scan is the only way to return to sport safely.

With advancements in technology continually improving, a one-size-fits-all piece of plastic attached to an elastic strap provides little protection for your face. An ill-fitting mask could cause even more damage as it can restrict peripheral vision during the game and put you at risk of further injury.

Although 3D printing is becoming increasingly popular, the materials just aren’t strong enough yet.A sports face mask is intended to protect a facial fracture or unstable facial injury during the game. They are effective in preventing further injury to the face and allowing your existing injuries to heal.

Solution:

Accurate 3D scan

Modelling to relieve the broken area and translate impacts to surrounding surfaces, a sports face mask created through the 3D printing process provides custom protection for a broken cheek, brow or nose. A 3D scan ensures the mask is customised to your individual face shape and fits perfectly around the unique contours of your face.

The scan recreates the unique infrastructure of your face to build the lightweight custom sports mask. Made from carbon fibre, the material consists of carbon atoms which are bonded together into crystals. The crystal alignment gives the mask a high strength to volume ratio which provides the benefit of a lightweight fit combined with a tough, protective exterior.

The mask is then reinforced with Kevlar, a synthetic fibre for added strength with low profile liner to give added comfort. The revolutionary technology has evolved from the moulded plastic of earlier sports masks which are too thick and heavy.

All of our centres are equipped with 3D scanning and we are able to supply you with your protective face mask derived from the scan data we collect. For more information, simply call us on 0330 100 1800.
