Ellis’ Story
Ellis Thompson’s parents first notice the flattening of her head at just 3 months old. At first Ellis was taken to see a osteopathy specialist in order to try and seek help regarding the flattening. Treatment through osteopathy did help the roundness of the head and progress was coming along nicely. However not quickly enough, as Ellis’ parents were very aware that at 14 months a baby’s skull begins to harden. Curious as to what other treatments there were for flat head syndrome, Ellis’ parents began to research and seek alternative methods, that’s when they came across Technology in Motion.
They booked an appointment at our Cheadle Osteopathy clinic in Manchester, where our clinician Emma made the family instantly feel at ease as she carried out the initial consultation. Ellis’ head shape fell into the severe category, having both plagiocephaly and brachycephaly, following this appointment Ellis was then fitted for her helmet at 7.5months old.
Ellis’ mother Jen said that “Ellis loved wearing her ‘owl hat’ from the moment we put it on. The helmet really emphasised her beautiful face and made her look even cuter.” In fact, the helmet actually helped with Ellis’ posture too, as it helped her start to sit up properly. In addition, Jen adds that the helmet didn’t seem to bother Ellis throughout the entire course of treatment at all “we had a really hot summer in Lancashire and we also went on a family holiday to Spain, the helmet was never an issue”.
Ellis finished her TiM band treatment at 14 months old, “we are so happy with the results, our gorgeous girl now has a more evenly shaped head and has been so happy through the whole process, thank you Technology in Motion”.
