ACL Knee Brace

Our clients self-refer or are referred to us from orthopaedic consultants and physiotherapists who ask us to provide an ACL Knee Brace to protect from injury, support a torn ligament, or to protect their repaired ACL injury after surgery.

We help to keep them at the top of their game with the effective support of an ACL Knee Brace. An ACL Knee Brace protects from a sports-related ACL injury, supports an existing injury, or helps a full recovery after surgery so that you can return to sports and activities sooner.

Some of our clients want and need to keep fit and active but have difficulty doing so because of previous injury or joint instability. An ACL Knee Brace uses a lightweight carbon fibre or aircraft aluminium frame with hinges incorporated at the knee joint for full mobility. An ACL Brace controls and supports using comfortable, firm straps which allow the knee to continue its normal movement, whilst preventing any abnormal movements. This design allows the knee to retain full movement (bending and straightening) whilst simultaneously providing rotational support. ACL Knee Brace Features

A good knee brace will comfortably protect and support normal movement and prevent abnormal loads on the knee. Essentially, it’s no different from wearing a crash helmet and will have:

  • Anatomically-correct hinges with extension stops to allow full range of motion but prevent over-stretching of the ligaments.
  • Adjustable Straps and condyle pads to control the tibia and allow adjustments in hinge depth to ensure correct joint alignment.
  • Padding, sometimes with silicone to prevent slipping (migration).
  • Well-designed buckles and cuffs to improve comfort and eliminate pressure points.
  • Support for ACL, MCL, LCL, PCL, rotary and combined instabilities.
  • Ability to be used in fresh, chlorinated and salt water.


Ski Knee Brace

Your knee brace for skiing will stabilise and minimise injury to the four main ligaments:

  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
  • Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)
  • Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL)
  • Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL)


The ACL is a main stabilising ligament, which crosses through the middle of the knee joint. It is commonly injured during high impact sports such as skiing and football. This ligament prevents hyperextension and excessive rotation of the joint during activity. The PCL is the other main ligament within the knee and works with the ACL to provide stability for the knee. They cross to form an ‘X’ shape so that the knee can remain flexible and extend without side to side movement.

The MCL and LCL are located either side of the knee. The MCL attaches the tibia and femur at the inside of the joint, and the LCL at the outside of the joint. Injury of either of these ligaments can result in a valgus (knock knee) or varus (bow leg) knee position. The MCL can be damaged in sporting activities when force is applied to the outside of the leg, just above the knee. The medial ligament can also be damaged due to excessive unnatural rotation. For example in a football game, a player’s studs get caught in the grass and tries to turn to the side, away from the stationery leg. The LCL is usually injured by pressure placed on the knee-joint from the inside, resulting in stress on the outside of the joint.

Motocross Knee Brace

Motocross is a sport that involves high speed and detailed precision around variable circuits. The dangerous element to the sport means a motocross rider is a high risk to serious joint injuries. Just like a helmet or spine board, protective equipment like Motocross Knee Braces will lessen these risks and riders who use CTi Knee Braces will benefit from additional control. Motocross Knee Brace

Motocross Knee Braces aim to protect one of the most vulnerable parts of a rider’s body. AGR has a progressive dampening mechanism that decelerates the knee joint movement during the extension phase of gait. This lessens the impact on the posterior capsule and facilitates the prevention of further injury and aids natural gait.
